Deviation Actions
Something I have been aware of for the past few months: more and more deviant-art accounts seem to not have any deviations on their front pages. My understanding is that you get to feature one by default, and also show your four most recent items as a group. And if you have a core account, you can feature about ten specific items on your page (and the site doesn't think to remove them when your subscription expires. I have not checked on this because I don't want the site to suddenly realize I am not supposed to be allowed to have that many anymore and I am certainly not buying a subscription!)
Another setup I see a increasingly is single front-page comments by the user, saying something to the effect of "reply HERE, and only here," usually with a bunch of hidden comments underneath. The combined effect of these two is that the page loads quickly and in a small space, but conveys very little information.
Certainly I PREFER that to the myspace-style pages covered with flashy sparkly slow-loading trash, but I wonder why anyone would elect to not show at least one of their own art pieces. Do you have any insight as to why that is or how it caught on? When I saw that in the past, I always assumed that meant the user was no longer using the site, but had chosen not to delete anything. Now I see it regularly on people who are here even more often than I am.

first beet of the year cartoon
only about five minutes altogether, so far. you will have to click on the titles to see them properly, I fear. wow THANK YOU for the idiotic useless scrollbars, deviantart! Don't worry about fixing basic video support, please keep working at ways to steal art from your own users for terrible artificial intelligence image generators and then charge them for it. I cannot remember which if any I mentioned here previously but the first two are now more at the effort level of the third one than they previously had been There SHOULD be a fourth part, eventually, but it still only exists conceptually with typed lyrics and midi accompaniment.
I have subscribestar AND patreon pages
https://www.subscribestar.com/bimshwel https://www.patreon.com/bimshwel look see there(s) I understand that some people like one better than the other. I think patreon's interface is more clear but certainly it has its own problems. the paytreon page is old, but subscriberstar is from this week and consequently only has a few 2024 entries right now, but going forward theoretically I would post anything old that has "merit" but is yet unfinished or exhibited and otherwise put the same new things on both. The only "perk" is commission discounts which obviously is not everyone's cup of bees, especially with the many limits on mine, but I do not trust myself to offer other perks without the perks becoming my life, and that would be counterproductive, as I barely have a life and barely manage that. in any case it is THERE if you want it, or the other one, and even if you don't, and additionally I will quite possibly not mention it again this year! howdy

I run into accounts all the time that have been here for years with absolutely no art in their gallery, and loads of faves.
